What if Google craps out on Active Rain?

Active Rain is a top notch social networking platform. But as an SEO engine, I think it’s a bit of a gamble.

There’s no shortage of bloggers who have commented on how Active Rain has helped them rank better. For those who consider this icing on the cake, I agree. But for those on AR who are their primarily for SEO, I think you’re talking a huge risk. As competition for AR’s Google juice rises, the number of bad actors will rise with it. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to conceive that they could find a way to play the system that eventually garners Google’s attention.

It doesn’t even have to be the bad guys. How many bloggers post duplicate content on AR? Google apparently doesn’t have a problem with duplicate content today. But what if they change their mind? Just something to think about.

I have questions for Active Rain.

Now that I’m up an running on Active Rain, here’s what I have planned. I’m going to take the interview practice started here, and broadcast it for all members. I’ll ask one question at a time and really hope everyone will participate. My first question is…

When Do You Blog?

Please reply over there. Any comments or suggestions about the idea itself are welcome here.

An amazing opportunity to boost your points on Active Rain!!!

How’s that for title baiting? I’m going to join Active Rain, and I would like offer someone the opportunity to invite me. First AR member to email/invite me at todd@mariah.com wins valuable AR points (I can only assume you get some). I believe you can redeem those points for valuable prizes like free baby sitting from Mr. Washburn himself! :D

Seriously though, I have an interesting idea for participating. I’ll update this post once I’m invited.
