1221 most influential real estate bloggers

This list created quite quite a stir, so I thought I would broaden the scope to make sure a few more bloggers were included. It’s obviously to long to post here, so here you go.

I hope I didn’t forget anyone. Let me know if I did. ;)

Go vote for me on Posh’d

RBF is among this month’s Posh’d sites. I’m asking for your vote. ;)

Some other notes…

The the Anglin Green Ribbon will stay on this blog for as long as there is someone at the other end of the link to collect.

My five most recent Active Rain questions are now linked below all of the other interviews. This will be an ongoing project to interveiw the entire AR community.

I’m now contributing to the Carnival of Real Estate’s event calender. If you know of a blogging related event coming up, let me know!

Is there a blogger you would like to nominate for an interview? Email me at todd@mariah.com

A fresh face for REMBEX, and more to come

You may have noticed, Blog Fiesta has a fresh face. As much as a I liked the old theme, Microsoft IE had issues with it. This fresh face is not quite as interactive, but none of you were using that interactivity anyway.

To go along with this face lift, the REMBEX home page has been given the same look. Initially, REMBEX was an extension of lenderama (and looked the part). In many ways, it now outshines it. There are now ~1200 independent blogs indexed in REMBEX, plus the Active Rain and Realtown networks.

I’ve also teemed up with Drew Meyers at Carnival of Real Estate to work on ways to move RE blogging forward. I’ll be contributing to CoRE events page, so if you have a blogging related event you want to publicize, be sure to let me know.

Very soon, REMBEX will be moving to it’s own domain (rembex.com), with even more features to encourage RE professionals to get involved in blogging. Stay tuned!

Great Posts About Blogging – Updated

My Great Posts About Blogging list has been updated. Whenever I find posts that I think will be helpful to other bloggers, I tag them into my del.icio.us account, and then update the list here every few weeks. You can also subscribe to this dedicated feed to get each post as I find them.

Carnivals, fiestas, and other shiny buttons.

I just updated the Great Posts About Blogging page. This is my loose interpretation of a blog carnival for content focused on the the art of great blog creation. There are no winners and the losers never get mentioned. Basically, if you have a good post that I run across, I tag it. The list get’s updated every few weeks, but there’s a RSS feed that let’s you see the posts mere seconds after I save them to my del.icio.us account.

The Carnival of Real Estate is a more traditional carnival. It’s a weekly contest, hosted by Drew Meyers of Zillow, with weekly judges, to find the best real estate blog post. Recently, Greg Swann, of Bloodhound Blog introduced the Odysseus Medal. This follows the same basic carnival format as CoRE but is judged solely by Gregg, and focuses more on the quality of writing. So I have no chance of ever winning ;)

Both of these sites are great resources for those who like to learn through example. I added their shiny web button thingys to the right column. I thought about making my own shiny button for my great posts page, but I think one widget is enough for now.

Questions for the peanut gallery?

I recently published a new feature here called Q&A. Basically, it’s a chance for anyone with a question about blogging to get my opinion, and the perspectives on my readers as well. Remember, their are no stupid questions, only stupid people. Wait… did I say that right? Anyway, try it out if you like.

What is REMBEX anyway?

For nearly as long as I have been blogging, I’ve tried to measure the RE Blogosphere. I got the idea from Hanin Levin, who made monthly posts about the new RE Blogs he found. I didn’t think it was appropriate to post on my mortgage industry blog, so I set up a separate page. My first round of blogs added up to about 50, but soon after, I started receiving emails like the following:

Can you add my blog to your “Real Estate & Mortgage Blogs”?

My blog is: www.raincityguide.com

Thanks in advance!

-Dustin

Soon, the list grew to 100, then 200, and the search engines loved it. They still do. But looking back, it’s not a very user friendly page. I was looking for a way bring order to the list. Maybe as a directory listed by category. Then Google Custom Search Engine application came along. The Real Estate & Mortgage Bloggers EXchange search engine was born.

By dumping all of the URLs of RE blogs into the engine, REMBEX searches the content of every single blog. Nothing to organize or sort through. If I were the only one that used it, I’d still keep it going. The best part about it is that I review each blog before including it. The only vetting a blog receives is to make certain it’s current, about real estate, and not a spam blog. Well over 1000 RE blogs are now included, and rarely a day goes by without me adding a few more.

So what is REMBEX Blog Fiesta? Well, consider it a sister site to the search engine. REMBEX helps you find content on blogs. Blog Fiesta helps you find out more about the bloggers who are providing that content. I had been trying to think up an original way to do a blog coaching type blog. When Joe at Selsius encouraged me to set up an event for their BlogTourUSA stop, I built a simple blog to promote the event. Then I thought it would be neat to interview some of the bloggers who were going to attend. Then I thought it would be cool to interview bloggers across the country. REMBEX Blog Fiesta was born!

My vision for the future for REMBEX is to continue to find ways for bloggers to connect with each other. I have some cool ideas for the future so stay tuned!

The blogroll is filling up fast.

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been trying to reward all of the early visitors to RBF by including them in my header and blog-roll. Basically, all you need to do to qualify is have an RE related blog and to prove you were here. I’ve been trying to monitor the visitors through MyBlogLog, but one way to guaranty that I’ll see you is to leave a comment here, or on any other thread. When the squares are gone, the blogroll will be full, closed forever. Don’t end up the Elaine Bennis of RE Bloggers. It’s time to speak up!
